There's over the top, and there's over the top so far you're down the other side and on fire from the speed: This 1967 Chevelle belongs to the latter group. A true SS396 car converted into one of the sickest pro touring cars around, this is a magazine centerfold waiting to be discovered!

Starting with a clean, freshly painted, restored Chevelle SS convertible, the crew at Paradise Road Speed and Custom was contracted to turn an already desirable car into a ground pounding showstopper. While the paint was nice, it wasn't perfect, and that wouldn't do for a vision as grand as this one. Paradise stripped the body to nothing, threw away the frame, the drive train and just about everything else (bolted down or otherwise) and started from scratch. When the dust settled, more than $120,000.00 was spent on this bad boy!

The best stuff happened underneath. A brand new Art Morrison chassis uses Strange adjustable coil-overs at all four corners for support. Tubular control arms, urethane bushings, sway bar end links with Heim joints and a Flaming River power rack and pinion steer exponentially better than the stock stuff. Wilwood four piston caliper disc brakes attach to Morrison spindles for stopping power. All new brake hard lines and braided hoses keep the fluid in check. A polished Saginaw power steering pump is adjustable thanks to the Heidt's power steering adjuster and braided lines. Urethane body, motor and transmission mounts keep unwanted motion in check without rattling out your fillings. The frame itself is finished in black powder coat while the floor pans are expertly coated in satin black Line-X, which was intended as a bed liner but is used by many pro shops to keep down road noise and protect the body. Moving to the rear you'll find more Wilwood discs hanging off of the powder coated 12 bolt rear that itself is suspended by a triangulated four link. A T/A rear girdle holds everything together. All fuel lines are braided pieces with Earl's fittings, the pump, filter and regulator are all top of the line Aeromotive parts and the fuel tank is new. There's a high dollar Keisler Engineering Tremec 5 speed TKO transmission kit to keep the revs down on the highway. The exhaust is ceramic coated from stem to stern (including the Flowmasters) and there are stainless band clamps at all connections. Parking brake cables are by Lokar. Every time you look for "that finishing touch" you run into more and more details and parts on this incredible car!

Check out the hood before you pop it open. Paradise fabricated a custom, one of a kind, steel lid in an attempt to cover the monster power plant below. It's not immediately apparent why there's such a dome to it until you see the size of the intake manifold! The bulge with an integrated cool air inlet for the K&N filter is a cool piece in that they kept the original hood insert panels, now mounted at an angle. An over the top car demands nothing less!

You have to see a GM Ram Jet intake in person to see just how large it really is. It's about the size of an old school tunnel ram and was designed for serious performance first and packaging second. With full computer control, the throttle response is amazing and the drivability is fantastic! There's only one crate engine fit to receive this intake, and this car has it: A GM Performance Parts ZZ502/502 monster! This is a brand new four bolt main block stuffed with all forged internals and a fat roller cam. More than 500 lbs/ft of torque is available as low as 2500rpm...can you say stump puller? The stock cam was pulled in favor of a Bob Cook billet stick (218/228@.050, 578/578) which trades some duration for lift and works great with the computer controlled speed density system. The heads, valve covers and intake are all powder coated for a shine that'll last, a full set of March pulleys and billet brackets hold the accessories together and there's an aluminum radiator with twin SPAL pusher fans and an adjustable thermostatic control and a Weiand aluminum water pump to keep things cool. Next to the Master Power brake booster and mastery cylinder is the fluid reservoir for the hydraulic clutch. MSD wires and a GMPP distributor light the fires while an Optima battery provides the cranking power. The new reproduction spring clamp battery cables almost look whimsical in here!

The bodywork is excellent with an even, bright finish. The car was soda blasted to bare metal and no corners were cut. Nearly every piece of bright work on the car is new from the bumpers to the grille to the finish panel and from the rocker moldings to the convertible top latches. 502 Crossed flag emblems on the fenders are a subtle touch while the massive billet Rallye-style wheels with Hankook Ventus Sport K104 tires (245/45/ZR18 front and 275/40/ZR20 rear) dominate the car's personality. Large rolled stainless exhaust tips look at home poking out below the rear bumper. All lights and lenses are new, as are the door handles and mirror. The car's a stunner!

Drop inside and sit on all new upholstery. From the carpet up and from door panel to door panel it's all new and mint. A custom, color matched dash holds Auto Meter Pro Comp gauges, there's a Grant wheel on top of the Flaming River tilt column, new armrest pads and bases at your side and a new Hurst stick pokes out of the factory console. A Panasonic CD player provides the tunes. There are new visors above and new carpet and pedal pads below. It's a brand new car with 41 years' worth of improvement!

There are details here that are missed. The invoice for most of the parts and work is fifteen pages long! If you're looking for a no excuses, done to the nines car with all the bells and whistles this is it!

Convinced that collector car values are plummeting? Don't be fooled! While the value of mediocre cars has been steadily sliding with the economy over the past two years, the value of incredible cars has stayed level and, is rising. The lesson is simple: buy the very best you can find!

Please note that all sales are binding and final. Our cars are sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Please carefully read the terms & conditions of the sale before bidding. Winning this auction does not entitle you to come inspect the car and decide if you want to buy it, but obligates you to complete the purchase! A $1000.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of the auction close ... NO EXCEPTIONS.

We do not release our reserve prices, as this would be unfair to the other bidders, so please don't ask!

Best of Show Automotive sells approximately 40 cars each and every month to collectors worldwide. Each and every one of these cars is listed on Ebay, but only one sale, on average per month, actually occurs on Ebay. Accordingly, if you see a car you like, don't wait! Call us! When you see it disappear, it means that it sold to someone who saw it somewhere else. Lastly, note that we do not change our pricing on any car based on Ebay auction activity. Ebay is a wholesale marketing platform, which we use primarily for marketing purposes.

If you have ZERO feedback on Ebay, please call or email us to request our authority to bid on our vehicles. And, for you con-men and women out there, while you may think it's cute to create a user account and click the Buy It Now on a high dollar car you can't afford, note that we will track you down and we will recoup our costs for fraudulent bidding activity.
