This auction is for a 1963 Corvair Monza Coupe.

The Chevrolet Corvair remains one of General Motors' most unusual creations. Design began in
1956 under the auspices of Ed Cole, and the first vehicles rolled off the assembly line in
late 1959 as part of the 1960 model year.

The Corvairs were first introduced by Chevrolet in 1959 as a "compact car" to meet the growing
number of small import cars. The first models introduced were 4-door family cars, mostly with
automatic transmissions. From the beginning the Corvair was very unusual and drew a great deal
of attention from the automotive world. All the automotive magazines of the time had many large
articles telling of cars virtues. What made the Corvair so different?

The 1963 model year saw the end of the Loadside pickup, and the availability of a long 3.08 gear for
improved fuel economy, but the Corvair otherwise remained largely carryover with minor trim and
engineering changes (self adjusting brakes) from 1962.

Up for auction is this rare 1963 Corvair Monza Coupe. This model is an unusual
California-Built Corvair with factory Air Conditioning in good working condition. It comes equipped
with a Flat Six 95-hp air cooled engine and automatic transmission. This nice original example
comes with a black vinyl original interior and an older repaint. The car runs and drives extremely
well, a good original example.
