The Corvair Monza Turbo-charged, rear engined car was a very advanced design that coupled the 356/911 Porsche, as the auto world well knows, this highly engineered car did not have a chance due to Ralph Nadar. Here today is a fine example that has had wonderful attention and top mechanicals through its whole existence, very seldom is there such excellent history as shown on this car, the tachometer works, manifold pressure gauge, cylinder head temperature gauge, original T-3 type headlights, the original hubcaps are worth upwards of $1000 alone, the engine has the original Carter sidedraft carberator that is valuable and rebuilt, has the dual 'Chevrolet bowtie" chrome mirrors, has a very solid General Motors Metallic Firemist Green color today, original Owner's Manuals

STATEMENT OF THE SECOND OWNER OF IMPORTANT FACTS:

"1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder, 2 door coupe,
150 Horsepower Turbo-charged, 164 CID, 6 cylinder engine, 4-speed on 10/20/1976 with 49,256 miles, today has just about 87,933 miles with note that the odometer just broke in Spring 2008)..
I'm the second owner; I had seen the car driving around town for over a year. Older woman drove it. The couple traded it in for a new car at the local Chevy dealer and one of the salesmen knew I might be interested in it and called me the second the deal was closed.

The original paint was white, I had it painted with a 1970 General Motors Metallic Firemist Green, Roger code 96 (8-11036-Rogers).
The interior is all original (in fine condition).

The engine is original except for the new parts installed.
In 1981 at 67k miles I rebuilt the engine. (today this has 87,933 that with note that the odometer just broke in Spring 2008).

Since I was going to replace the pistons I had the cylinders bored to except new 3 1/2 inch forged TRW pistons increasing the displacement to 172 CID.
    New parts installed:
Piston wrist pins, hydraulic valve lifters, valves, Otto valve springs, valve seats and Otto parts lightweight spring retainers.

    New Total seal piston rings.
    New 1964 Spyder camshaft.
New push rods, rocker arms and rocker arm studs.
All new Clevite 77 bearings in the rods and on the crankshaft.
The engine was balanced and blueprinted.
Flywheel was machined, specially riveted and balanced.
The crank was magnafluxed and checked for straightness.
The heads were ported and polished.
New Otto racing high volume oil pump was installed.
New Otto deep sump oil pan and pickup tube installed. New special oil baffles were installed in the block to prevent oil from traveling back up the push rod tubes in severe cornering.
New heavy duty clutch and throw out bearing installed.

The car has always been maintained even though I really did not drive it much when I moved to Atlanta. I maintained the car myself other than special tool machining.

    Recent Maintenance:

    New Oil and oil Filter
    New Air Filter
    New Turbo oil return hose.
    Rebuilt the carburetor.
Spark plugs cleaned and adjusted. All timing settings adjusted.
New Brake Line hoses installed front and rear. Bled brakes with new brake fluid, Inspected metallic brake pads.
Inspected and repacked (greased) front wheel bearings.
Greased front end ball joints, steering knuckles and rear clutch pivot arm.

Tires are new 185/80/13 radial narrow band white walls

The car has had a lot of good upgrades.
I set the car up so it could be autocrossed, but I never did. A friend of mine raced Corvair's and really knew how to make them handle. I wanted this car to run with the V8 muscle cars. My friends had GTO's, Chevelles, Camaro's, etc..
I installed fast steering arms and put a steering dampener on.
It has finned brake drums and I installed metallic brake pads.
I added a 68 Camaro spoiler to the front-end. Does make a difference at high speed.

Added an electric fuel pump as a back up to the mechanical one.
The shifter housing was replaced with quick throw housing for a shorter shift movement. I removed most all of play from the shifting mechanism with new shift bushings and special pins.
I put all new suspension springs and heavy duty shocks on the car. (all of this was to improve the handling) I installed an adjustable bolt system on the rear leaf spring to allow for any rear wheel camber settings needed for different road conditions. All of these changes make the car really handle great.
    Water injection system installed.
All new seals in the transmission.
    New gas tank.

Many more new parts installed in the following years. See maintenance records. There are extensive records and some parts that are part of the package that go with this nice car.

Fraser Dante Ltd fully checks all of its vehicles thoroughly…before a customer has their vehicle shipped, it has a small road test; this, of course, recognizes that this is a classic show type vehicle. All fluids checked, fresh oil, oil filter, and spark plugs, all lights working unless noted, brakes are checked, and a full checklist comes with the vehicle. The vehicles are nicely detailed with great effort. Our vehicles have had excellent work by top classic car mechanics. Many photos document lots of work along with valuable "number' sheets.Note, we supply proper legal paperwork, NO open titles, to insure complete transfer of ownership. We send an appraisal on the vehicle and then help with insurance. We fully, accurately and honestly, describe the condition and components of all vehicles to a great extent…in short, we tell the truth. We have sold fine quality classic and special interest vehicles around the USA and in Europe and now are in our 21st year. You are not buying from an individual on the Internet who does not know or care about you, the buyer. We want your continued business and will be here tomorrow to answer your questions and are anxious for further buying and selling from our customers.

DisclaimerThis auction is a legally binding contract to buy this vehicle. All vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise specified. I have done my best to accurately describe this vehicle.
