This is a California built car with original black commercial plates. As faras I know, the car has stayed in California throughout its history. It appears to have the original 283 C.I.D. motor, which has been completely rebuilt and balanced with a mild Competition Cams roller rocker cam, Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock Intake, MSD ignition, Hooker headers, andstainless hardware. Although the rebuild isa fewyears old, there are very few miles on the engine, and it runs very well. The car was retrofitted with a Muncie M-20 four speed several years ago by a previous owner. All of the parts used in the swap from the Powerglide to the Muncie appear to be of original type, and the transmission appears as if it were factory installed. Included with the car is a factory shifter and linkage, however, I swapped it out for the more user friendly Hurst shifter and linkage. Rear-end gears are 3:08’s and appear to be original. The car has original factory air conditioning. It now runs on R134, and it works very well, as does the heater/defroster. The car is the original aqua color. So far as I can tell, there is no body damage or rust to speak of, with the exception of a small area of surfacerustin a body well. This area is not visible from the bed or exterior. It is not part of the passenger compartment, and it appears to be of no structural concern. The paint is also several years old, and it looks like it was painted yesterday. All of the chrome and bright work have been replaced or redone with the exception of the stock grill. The bed itself is in very nice condition, no holes or major damage, just some smalldings from years of light use. The interior was originally aqua color but has been changed to black with factory replica upholstery. There are no holes anywhere in the interior for things such as radios or speakers. Even the tachometer is attached to a factory screw hole. The car still has the original working AM radio. I have replaced the original Powerglide steering column with an Ididit tilt column. Nothing was cut or permanently altered in the swap, and I have the original steering column and wheel. Virtually all of the suspension/brake components have been replaced, and the car drives extremely well. The car has been lowered with 2” lower springs. The exhaust runs through Flowmasters, and it sounds great. In short, this is an excellent California daily driver. It has been very dependable in the last four years that I have owned it. I have been to many shows and swap meets, and I have honestly never seen a nicer, more original appearing El Camino. I have receipts for parts and work, which exceed $10,000.00. Please contact me via email if you have any questions or would like additional photos. We can also set up a phone conversation if you would like to speak with me personally. The buyer must arrange his/her own transportation, but I will assist as much as possible. Seller reserves the right to sell this car at any time during this auction. Thank You, Jeff |
