This 1957 Chevy 210 is one of those perfect cars that we get in here now and then that wins hearts simply because it's so beautiful. This one isn't about matching numbers or date codes, it's all about being art for art's sake. Every single component, every square inch, every stitch on it is as perfect as it can be—so perfect, in fact, that the fellow who had it built has never driven it beyond his driveway because he just can't bear the thought of hurting it.

This car has some strong bones, too. It was purchased from its original owner in Colorado 19 years ago (a copy of the ad is included with the sale). It was a 6-cylinder, 3-speed car at the time, and was in outstanding shape. That bill of sale and other documents like the temporary tag are included to help document the car's 2-owner history. Over the years, the car evolved until the second owner decided it needed to go to the next level. He spent several years and tens of thousands of dollars creating the piece of art you're looking at right now.

Of course, the first thing you're noticing is the color; this car has been repainted in its original colors of India Ivory over Larkspur Blue, and it is just stunning in the flesh. It's also a very refreshing change from all the red and black '57s that are floating around. If you want to stand out at a show, a subtle and exquisitely detailed car like this is the only way to go today. The all-original body panels have been massaged and straightened to perfection—you'll never get reproduction sheetmetal to look this good, and none of it has been shaved, chopped, or modified. The gaps are flawless and someone spent a lot of time installing all that restored stainless and chrome trim getting it to align so beautifully. In fact, to give you an idea of how perfect this car was to start, the emblem on the trunk is the original in 100% unrestored condition, and it's flawless. And while many people seem to prefer the Bel Air's anodized aluminum panels on the quarters, this 210's simple trim and contrasting India Ivory insert that matches the top looks almost custom.

After you're done taking in the beautiful workmanship, you can see how perfectly this car sits, thanks to a set of 2-inch drop spindles and 1-inch drop springs. It has an aggressive classic hot rod rake to it, and those classic polished Torq-Thrust wheels in front of power front disc brakes give it a timeless look that will look as awesome in 20 years as it does today.

Mechanically, this car sports a vintage '65 Corvette 327 making 365 horsepower thanks to double hump heads and some vintage-looking Edelbrock speed equipment. There's nothing flashy or high-tech under there, just a perfectly detailed small block Chevy and a 4-barrel, the same combination that has been powering street machines for decades. It fits with the car's traditional style build and if you did it any other way, it just wouldn't be right. The workmanship is high-quality throughout, and you can see in the clean presentation and detailing that subtle was the overriding theme on the entire build. There's just enough polished aluminum to dress it up, but not so much that it's all you see. Instead, it's a symphony of colors and materials that really pops against that Larkspur Blue paint. The engine is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission that's controlled by a Hurst shifter. There's a new driveshaft and U-joints feeding power to the rear packing a new-old stock 1964 Chevy limited slip differential. When you look under there to see all those new parts, check out how highly detailed and polished it is, too. The builders took a lot of extra time making sure the underside of this car is as nice as the rest of it.

The interior is just as exceptional in its execution and subtlety. Again, it's all stock colors and materials throughout, letting the excellent work done by GM stylists in the '50s do all the talking. The upholstery is the correct light blue vinyl with dark blue pattern cloth that looks spectacular. The carpets, door panels, and headliner are all-new as well. The dashboard has been refinished and stuffed full of rebuilt factory gauges, a rebuilt radio, and a clock. A chrome tilt steering column holds a leather-wrapped billet steering wheel. Under the dash, a new Alpine CD stereo system is housed in its own custom box for a factory look. The Hurst shifter sports a cue ball knob that looks perfectly vintage in this 90% authentic interior. In the nicely finished trunk, the original spare is still present, along with the original jack, all complimented by fresh paint and a new trunk mat.

I think we can confidently say that this is one of the very finest '57 Chevys anywhere at any price. The workmanship and attention to detail is unbelievable and it is just flat-out gorgeous to look at. That stout small block under the hood is a potent performer, and all the components used here have proven their merits in battle time after time. As a 2-owner piece, it has a known history and no surprises. We invite you to come in and look this car over from front to back and see if you don't agree that it's about the nicest shoebox you've ever seen. Then see if you can resist taking it home with you.

Convinced that collector car values are plummeting? Don't be fooled! While the value of mediocre cars has been steadily sliding with the economy over the past two years, the value of incredible cars has stayed level and, is rising. The lesson is simple: buy the very best you can find!

Please note that all sales are binding and final. Our cars are sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Please carefully read the terms & conditions of the sale before bidding. Best of Show Automotive sells approximately 40 cars each and every month to collectors worldwide. Each and every one of these cars is listed on Ebay, but only one sale, on average per month, actually occurs on Ebay. Accordingly, if you see a car you like, don't wait! Call us! When you see it disappear, it means that it sold to someone who saw it somewhere else. Lastly, note that we do not change our pricing on any car based on Ebay auction activity. Ebay is a wholesale marketing platform, which we use primarily for marketing purposes.

If you have ZERO feedback on Ebay, please call or email us to request our authority to bid on our vehicles. And, for you con-men and women out there, while you may think it's cute to create a user account and click the Buy It Now on a high dollar car you can't afford, note that we will track you down and we will recoup our costs for fraudulent bidding activity.
