I'm certain that the day will come when future enthusiasts refer to the early part of the 21st Century as the golden years of horsepower. Technology has made horsepower insanely easy to make, and manufacturers are feeding virtually every model in their lineup steroids of some kind or another, from 260-horsepower front-wheel-drive economy cars to 605-horsepower 4-door Autobahn assassins. Hell, even minivans are kicking out 250 horsepower these days.

Nowhere is this glorious new horsepower race more clearly embodied than in this 2007 Dodge Charger SRT-8 Super Bee. 425 horsepower, Detonator Yellow paint, and that black bumble bee graphics package out back scream, "muscle car!" as loudly as any of the great '60s performance icons did. But this is also a muscle car for a new millennium, which is why it has four doors, is stuffed full of luxury equipment, and still goes around corners better than even the most hard core performance cars born four decades ago. If you want one car that can truly do it all, look no further.

The original Dodge Super Bee appeared in 1968. It was basically a stripped-down Dodge Coronet with no options save an enormous engine and a heavy-duty suspension. The modern Super Bee is a limited production package (only 1,000 built) that included a 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI V8, 20-inch wheels and tires, Brembo brakes, and a beefed-up sport suspension. It also includes the aforementioned Detonator Yellow paint, various badges and decals scattered around the body, plus yellow stitching for the interior and another badge with the car's individual number.

You're looking at Super Bee number 337, which has just 187 miles on the clock, making it a brand-new car for all intents and purposes. It's unlikely that anyone has ever won a stop light drag race with it or fried the gigantic 255/45/20 rear tires for the sheer joy of it—those are things that we'll reserve for the new owner. The paint is, of course, flawless and the interior doesn't even show signs of ever having carried a passenger. Those gorgeous forged alloy wheels are blemish-free without even any sign of having brake dust from the giant 14-inch Brembos sprayed on them.

You'll be hard pressed to resist this car's charms from behind the wheel. The engine lights off instantly and settles into a rumbling idle that can't disguise the big cam hiding in that 370 cubic-inch SRT8 Hemi. Its 425 hp rating has its roots in history—it was the published rating for the legendary 426-cubic-inch Hemi. Torque is 420 lb-ft., and it all gets routed to the rear wheels through a sharp-shifting 5-speed automatic.

You'll be similarly hard pressed to stay anonymous in this car. No matter where you go and no matter how well-behaved you are, you're always going to be the center of attention. Every kid in a tuned-up Honda is going to want a piece of you, and you'll probably get disapproving looks from old ladies in Buicks, too. Of course, Dodge knows that there are people who want that kind of in-your-face attention; that's why this car looks like it does. Hell, with that big Hemi under the hood, there won't be many cars you can't slap around anyway, so let them try.

Just how fast is it? Published testing shows 0-to-60-mph times around 5 seconds with the quarter-mile clicked off in the mid-13s at 106 mph, numbers which, by the way, which would allow the '07 Charger SRT-8 Super Bee to literally run rings around a '68 version without even switching off the A/C. The Bee's 66-mph run through the slalom is faster than a BMW 535i can manage. It also pulls a respectable 0.84g on the skid pad. These are absolutely mind-warping numbers from a car that weighs some 4200 pounds and is chock full of luxury and safety equipment.

In addition to the extensive list of standard equipment, Super Bee number 337 is also loaded with options. We have the original window sticker, and it shows items such as dual-zone A/C, heated seats, automatic headlamps, Kicker stereo system, a navigation system, and Bluetooth connectivity. Back in '68, you were lucky if your Super Bee came with an AM radio.

Today, horsepower is all about having your cake and eating it, too. Forty years ago, you made compromises to go fast. Today, with cars like the Super Bee, you don't have to. It will simply outrun the nastiest brutes of the '60s, yet still coddles you in a leather-wrapped cocoon.

One last thing that this car has in common with its brothers from the '60s: it's going to appreciate. Fast. As one of just 1,000 built, and with the storm clouds of fuel efficiency mandates gathering on the horizon once again, the days of the supercar are surely numbered. Stash this one away so that in another few decades, you can be hanging onto one of the most amazing cars from the auto industry's true golden age of horsepower.

Convinced that collector car values are plummeting? Don't be fooled! While the value of mediocre cars has been steadily sliding with the economy over the past two years, the value of incredible cars has stayed level and, is rising. In times of economic uncertainty, capital flows to the highest quality assets which contain the least amount of risk and the classic car market is no exception. The lesson is simple: buy the very best you can find!

Please note that all sales are binding and final. Our cars are sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Please carefully read the terms & conditions of the sale before bidding. Winning this auction does not entitle you to come inspect the car and decide if you want to buy it, but obligates you to complete the purchase! A $1000.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of the auction close ... NO EXCEPTIONS.

We do not release our reserve prices, as this would be unfair to the other bidders, so please don't ask!

Since our cars are for sale in a number of other mediums, we reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time.

Best of Show Automotive sells approximately 25-30 cars each and every month to collectors worldwide. Each and every one of these cars is listed on Ebay, but only one sale, on average per month, actually occurs on Ebay. Accordingly, if you see a car you like, don't wait! Call us! When you see it disappear, it means that it sold to someone who saw it somewhere else. Lastly, note that we do not change our pricing on any car based on Ebay auction activity. Ebay is a wholesale marketing platform, which we use primarily for marketing purposes.

If you have ZERO feedback on Ebay, please call or email us to request our authority to bid on our vehicles. And, for you con-men and women out there, while you may think it's cute to create a user account and click the Buy It Now on a high dollar car you can't afford, note that we will track you down and we will recoup our costs for fraudulent bidding activity.
