1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340, Mopar Performance 402, 4-speed with Factory Fold Down Rear Seat My sharp 1973 Dodge Dart Sport is an Original 340, 4-speed car (H code) that has been upgraded with a Blueprinted Mopar 402 and much more (see below). Of course I have the Original, good running 340 motor and correct number 4-speed. Prior to my ownership the Dart Sport was owned by a Florida Highway Patrol Officer for 33 years and retains all of its original body panels. (The officer had Ziebart applied years and years ago.) This is an exceptionally quick and very solid Dart Sport that is really an eye catcher. I have been fortunate to own several Street Hemi and Max Wedge Cars in the past. This Dart Sport is quicker, reliable and can be driven anywhere. It really gets the “thumbs up” cruising around. You may have seen my Dart at the “Mopars with Big Daddy” show, at the Don Garlits’ museum. It will be there again on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Be There ! Below, I have attempted to list what has been done with
the car in the past 2 years or so. A few things may have been missed. While the
paint is several years old, it remains smooth and glossy since the car has been
stored inside. There are a couple of
spots that will need attention in a few years. I would be pleased to answer any
questions by email or if you would like to discuss the car, please send me your
phone number and best time to call. Sorry, No Trades. - Mopar Performance Magnum 402/435 HP (P5007647) Standard Bore crate engine was Completely Disassembled, Blueprinted, and Internally Balanced with a Mopar Performance SFI Damper. Final installation was made with a MILODON pick up and pan. (Factory Magnums are external balanced) - Mopar Magnum R/T Heads were professionally Street Ported and Combustion Chambers polished. A multi angle valve job was done and CRANE Dual Roller Valve Springs installed. - Street grind HUGHES/BULLET Hydraulic Roller Camshaft was installed. Specs are 222/230 at .050 with .512 lift on both intake and exhaust with 109 LSA. My intent was to put the emphasis on mid-range Torque and it’s there ! The factory open plenum M1 was massaged by the head port pros and worked exceptionally well. Later, I installed a 180 degree M1 intake (yet more torque) and this is currently on the car. - 8 ¾ Rear End Housing, A body, Industrial Powder Coated, New 3.91 Gears, & Sure-Grip in a 489 Center Section with MOSER Axles and bearings (1973 340’s came with 8 ¼ rear ends) - HAYS Street Pressure Plate and Clutch, Balanced - SFI Steel 30 lbs Flywheel, Balanced - MSD Ready to Run Pro-Billet Distributor, adjustable advance and MSD coil - Rebuilt matching number 4-speed by Kim’s Automotive, a Mopar restorer - New HURST Competition Plus Shifter - TTI Ceramic coated Headers with Thermal barrier - TTI “X” pipe with complete TTI 2.5 exhaust System & baloney cut ends - Complete New MOOG Front Suspension with ENERGY Poly Bushings and Gas Shocks - MANCINI HD Rear Springs-440/Hemi Specs in Stock Location - Complete Rebuilt Power Steering Unit and PS Pump - Mopar lightweight Master Cylinder with DOT 5, Silicone Fluid - Classic Tube SS Braided Brake Hose lines for Front Disc Brakes - Completely refurbished Front and Rear Brakes with Ceramic Pads - American Racing 15 X 7 and 15 X6 Chrome Torque Thrust D’s wheels - Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 255/60/15 and 215/65/15 tires - DENSO Hi-Torque Starter with POWERMASTER Alternator - New LEGENDARY Seat Covers - New LEGENDARY Door Panels - New ACC Carpet with Fat Mat under carpet - Quality Reproduction Tuff Wheel - Reproduction Dash Pad, not a cap One of the photos shows a New Old Stock Surround for the radio and heater control, and a NOS Turn Signal Lever.
