This 1965 Ford Falcon Futura has been restored and modified for performance and looks

This 1965 Ford Falcon Futura has been restored and modified for performance and looks. The car was found in South Florida from the original owner, the restoration began with minimal rust in 1994. The following is a brief summary of what has gone into this car:

Body: The car is painted Ford Medium Calypso Green with metal striping painted Oxford White. It was painted in 1995, so it’s starting to show some minor signs of age (like chipping due to lack of adhesion from poor paint prep). Bumpers are original steel, which have been ‘show chrome’ refinished (double thick chrome plating). The rest of the grill and trim pieces are all original and in good condition. The door handles have been shaved off, and the key linkage now opens the doors. The side mirrors are painted to match and are powered and are off of a mid-90s Escort. The pot metal wing windows are in good shape but are starting to show the very beginning stages of pitting.

Drive Train: The car is powered by a 302 c.i. HO engine that has approx. 100 miles on it since a fresh rebuild (new bearings, gaskets, & seals). The block is a year appropriate 289 casting with a 302 crankshaft and balanced rotating assembly and has a new high flow oil pump. On top of that are a set of High Output (HO) cast iron heads which have some porting work done to them (nothing major) and they have the factory air pump lines plugged off. The cam is a Wolverine Blue Racer WG-1163K (Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft & Lifter Kit Lift: .471''/.471'', Duration: 280°/290°, RPM Range: 2000-4800). The intake is a year appropriate HO 4-barrel cast iron intake with a Carter AFB 600 series carburetor with manual choke. Air cleaner is a K&N 15”, CV Products mechanical fuel pump, and the radiator fans are electric. The dual exhaust headers flow down to the collectors then back to some y-pipes, where one end of each pipe goes to some side dumps (to make lots of noise), and the other end goes to the chrome tips at the rear thru a set of Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. The transmission is a Ford AOD with a TransGo AOD-HP kit (wide open shift to 4th, holds 4th, & shift lever holds: 1st, 2nd, 3rd to any RPM) shifted by a Hurst ratchet shifter with line lock/roll control. The rear end is an 8” with limited slip 4.62 gears (3.55 gears go with it too). It’ll bark 2nd gear and slams pretty hard into 3rd which is pretty good for a little V8 at almost 300hp.

Interior: The interior is all custom with grey tweed dashboard, door and kick panels, and matching headliner. A large Falcon emblem is recessed into the door panels. The back seat was never replaced, still the original two-tone blue vinyl seat. The rear windows still crank, but the front windows are converted to power with Ball’s Power Windows. The front bucket seats are from a mid-90s T-bird with all the power controls in the center console. The dash is a Dakota Digital vacuum florescent green digital 6-gage cluster. The radio is a Sony removable face AM/FM cassette. Lokar billet aluminum brake and throttle pedal assemblies with Lokar throttle and kick-down cable.

Suspension and Brakes: The suspension is all rebuilt with new rubber bushings all around, new front coils, and the rear leafs were re-sprung. The rear axle has Lakewood traction bars and rebuilt drum brakes. The front has disc brakes with a dual master cylinder, and the entire steering from left outer tie-rod to right outer tie-rod is brand new. It tracks perfectly straight and doesn’t bump steer at all.

Wheels and Tires: Cragar S/S Super Sport 15” x 7” with new BFGoodrich g-Force sport (P225/60R15) rubber (only 100 miles on them)

Misc: Newer model Ford electronic ignition with vacuum advance. Chrome radiator overflow tank. New water pump. Hood pins. Spare tire with original jack. Fuel tank flushed and fuel pickup/sending unit replaced. Stock ‘powered by ford’ steel valve covers. Racing inspired chrome steering wheel with chrome horn button. Dakota Digital remote power windows. Has a New battery as of 5 months ago. The back-up lights are the original glass lenses, pretty cool and rare option for these Falcons.

The car needs a couple things to be complete. The carpeting has a few tears in the foot-well area in it and needs replacing. I made the mistake of buying a one piece and it didn’t fit right. The top of the dashboard tweed is showing signs of sun rot. It’s all dried up and cracking, but I have an extra roll of tweed and padding to go with the car. The paint is chipping behind the drivers’ rear window on the top beside the trunk, which is an adhesion problem I mentioned earlier. And rust has started at the base of the rear windshield from replacing the rear window seal after it was painted. For more detailed photos of the problem areas, just send me an email. Over all it’s a solid car, I used to use it as a daily driver during my college days (1995-1999), and I put 46000 miles on it over that period before the engine was rebuilt, lately it’s been a garage queen, with the occasional ride out to a car show. It’s an awesome ride that attracts a lot of attention.

Happy Bidding!
