Quick, name hot rodding's Triple Crown of top awards.

The answer is, of course, the Ridler Award, the Boise Award, and America's Most Beautiful Roadster.

OK, now name a car that has actually WON the Triple Crown. In truth, there's only one: The .32 Revolver.

And now you can own it.

Where to begin with a car like this? Virtually every single component is hand-fabricated and we could fill an entire website with the details on this amazing '32 Ford highboy. From the cut-down VW Beetle windshield to the modified '85 Corvette rear suspension with inboard disc brakes, this car is as unique as it is beautiful. You could spend days looking at it and not see every trick, which is exactly what national champion rods like this are all about.

First, let's start with that body. It's one of 120 Deuce roadsters made by Darrell Zip of the famous Zipper Motors. If you've heard of Darrell or seen the products that Zipper puts out, you know that they're something special (both Darrell and the cars!). But the "stock" Zipper Deuce wasn't unique enough, so the body was extensively modified. Changes include an entirely new steel and fiberglass front clip featuring a no-cowl design that extends the hood all the way to the base of that chopped windshield, giving the car a sleek, updated appearance without stealing anything from those classic Henry Ford proportions.

If you look closer, you'll see things like the brake lights molded into the body behind the front seat, the one-off side mirrors integrated into the doors (construction photos show a few different designs mocked up on the car), and the widened wheel tubs for those giant 275/60/17 BFGoodrich Comp T/A rear tires. Everywhere you look, there's a small detail that delights the eye—the essence of high-craftsmanship hot-rodding and the very reason why this car won all those awards. Builder Dave Emery sweated even the tiniest details on this car during the 2 years it took to build.

The paint is just what you'd expect of a national champion show car—absolutely flawless. All the more amazing is that it is nearly 12 years old and still shines like the day it was applied, testament to careful stewardship (nobody simply "owns" a car like this). The DuPont black and red paint was laid down in a pattern that mirrors the trick, billet aluminum wheels. That red hue took 3 months to develop and is a custom color unique to this car, so it doesn't even have a name.

Underneath, you'll find that the chassis has likewise been modified and detailed to perfection. The biggest modification was in the back where tubular bracing supports an '85 Corvette independent rear end packing 3.55 gears and custom-fabricated inboard disc brakes. Note the quality of the welds on the chassis. Well, you can't, since you can't see them—they've been smoothed and sanded and filed for a totally seamless look. And as long as we're back there, look at that gorgeous inch-thick machined aluminum plate backing the differential and through which the polished stainless steel exhaust system is routed.

The rest of the machine work on this car is equally phenomenal. All the components of both the front and rear suspensions were machined on a CNC lathe or mill, creating one-of-a-kind parts that are all either chrome-plated or polished stainless. There are coil-over shocks front and back, with the front suspension being a traditional double A-arm configuration that looks great and rides even better. Under the floorboards, the linkage for the master cylinder is like functional sculpture.

Beneath that hand-made hood that extends over the radiator shell, you'll find a fully-dressed small-block Chevy backed by a TH350 automatic transmission. It has been bathed in more of that custom red paint, topped by polished aluminum heads and a killer Inglese induction system with four velocity-stack-wearing Webers. The steel radiator shroud was hand-fabricated and integrates the electric cooling fan better than any factory piece ever could. And dig the radiator cap access door—it's spring-loaded so just a touch makes it pop open. That's so cool.

Anything that wasn't painted was plated or polished until it shined like jewelry. Even the block itself was sanded and smoothed before the paint went on, and it's just as flawless as the rest of the paint. Oh, and there's another body modification in here, too: the smoothed firewall topped by a single windshield wiper (although with no top, a wiper isn't much comfort should the weather turn inclement). Even the scallops painted on the outside of the car wrap onto the firewall, something you'll only notice if you look carefully. See what we mean about needing days just to see it all?

Key the remote to pop open the surprisingly heavy electrically-operated doors and look inside. Clearly the black leather interior was designed as the centerpiece of this car. Built by Fine Line Design of Clarkston, Michigan, all the components were hand sculpted in wood and fiberglass and wrapped in top-grain hides. There are over 450 hours in the design and construction of the dashboard alone (that's almost 3 months of 40-hour weeks). That trick dash is packed with VDO gauges, including four integrated pods at the base of the windshield that echo the taillight nacelles behind the seats (which, in turn, extend into the trunk lid upholstery). The steering wheel is a 1-off billet piece, and a Lokar aluminum shifter controls the transmission. It's incredibly rare for a rod to have seat belts, but they're so cleverly integrated in this car that they've become a design element, not just a safety feature.

If you think all it does is look good, you're in for a surprise. Key it up and that small block cackles to life instantly and settles into an even idle. Webers are notorious for being cantankerous, but someone has these set up exactly right and they make the most lovely induction sound. While clearly not built to actually race, this car does want to run and a new owner shouldn't have any qualms about putting it on the road sometime in the future. It turns, stops, and generally goes about its business the way a car should—it certainly doesn't feel like the hand-fabricated, one-of-a-kind piece of art that it is. The odometer shows that someone has already put more than 700 miles on it, probably grinning from ear-to-ear while doing it.

It's hard to put a value on hot rods because they are such individual creations, and it can be even harder to call them an investment. But if you have the world's only Triple Crown winner, fully documented and still in show-winning condition? The Revolver is definitely an exception. This is the kind of car that has an evolving history that each owner can participate in, adding to its pedigree and enhancing its value. This is the kind of car that can anchor a world-class collection and still compete at the highest levels. Forget your local cruise night where they'll just hand you the trophy the minute you pull up, we're talking about a car that has already beaten the best of the best across the country. Despite this car's hand-built status, incredible history like that is the only thing that wasn't fabricated. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Convinced that collector car values are plummeting? Don't be fooled! While the value of mediocre cars has been steadily sliding with the economy over the past two years, the value of incredible cars has stayed level and, is rising. The lesson is simple: buy the very best you can find!

Please note that all sales are binding and final. Our cars are sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Please carefully read the terms & conditions of the sale before bidding. A $1000.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of the auction close ... NO EXCEPTIONS.

Best of Show Automotive sells approximately 40 cars each and every month to collectors worldwide. Each and every one of these cars is listed on Ebay, but only one sale, on average per month, actually occurs on Ebay. Accordingly, if you see a car you like, don't wait! Call us! When you see it disappear, it means that it sold to someone who saw it somewhere else. Lastly, note that we do not change our pricing on any car based on Ebay auction activity. Ebay is a wholesale marketing platform, which we use primarily for marketing purposes.

If you have ZERO feedback on Ebay, please call or email us to request our authority to bid on our vehicles. And, for you con-men and women out there, while you may think it's cute to create a user account and click the Buy It Now on a high dollar car you can't afford, note that we will track you down and we will recoup our costs for fraudulent bidding activity.
