I have a serious health problem and I am selling one of my cars because of it. This car is a 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator 428 Cobra Jet. It is the real deal- not a clone or made up one. I have been told they only made 153 of these Eliminators with the C6 Auto transmission and there are only about 50+ left out there.. The car had been sitting for several years before i bought it about 3 years ago. The factory color of the car was Bright Blue Metallic with Blue Vinyl seats and interior. The car was repaintedCompition Blue with Black interior when i got it so I asked some forum members on the 428 Cobra Jet site ifI should change it back to Blue Metallic or leave it Compition Blue wheni restored it. 9 out of 10 members said to leave it Competion Blue so thats how she stays. I also put 1970 parking lights in it because i like the looks of them (as you can see i am not a purist!). The car was sold to me as having the original drive train and i have no reason to doubt it, but Ican't prove itas i couldn't find any numbers stamped on the back of the block (the transmission does have theVIN # stamped on it and the rear end does have the tag on it) The date codes on the block and heads are very close and about a month or so before the build date of the car. The car is a mixture of all original and new parts. It was in fairly good condition when i purchased it and i have done a lot to make it better.It has a completely detailed underneathe with a complete new muffler system and new tires and alignmentThe engine compartment is nice too! and the engine runs fast and strong. The transmission has been rebuilt too. I am having a little problem with the power steering pump - sometimes it's power- sometimes it's manual. My health condition makes it impossible for me to chase down that problem right now, but i don't think it's anything serious and the car is very drivable.The paint is about a 9 out of 10 (the -1 being when a friend leaned over the drivers fender with his nice belt buckle on and left a couple scratches- it's not bad- but it's there!) As you guys know, these Eliminators are hard to find compared to the CJ Mustang and according to the N.A.D.A price guide they are worth as much or more. I also have the Marti report for it .I really hate to sell this car but i have to. I have been honest in my description of the car and i think who ever ends up with it will be very happy. It really turns heads when i drive it. Winner will pay by wire transfer unless we work out something else and winner will be responsible for any shipping or pickup charges.
