NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!

It's 1947, our boys have just returned from the European, Pacific, and African fronts, welcomed by tickertape parades....they came home and started families (our parents and grandparents), as their families grew with the baby boom, so did the need for large comfortable automobiles to transport them....the history of the greatest generation to live is evident in cars from this era. Chrome, luxury, power. The stylings of this Oldsmobile are simple yet refined, very well crafted, and designed to last......

Up for sale is my 1947 Oldsmobile. It is in the Aero style with the sloped rearend of the body. There's LOTS of room inside, and the seats feel like couches! This car is an older restroartion, possibly the 70's. The interior is sunbleached, but in great shape. Rust? What rust? The only rust is minor surface rust, I do mean there is no rot! There is a small soft spot in the drivers side floorboard (less that an 8"area). This car has been garaged, and very well taken care of. The paint is faded, has great patina for the ratrod crowd, and can easily be setup for fresh paint for the shiny crowd. In the picture of the front of the car, you see the shiny side on the drivers' half of the hood, the passenger side hasn't yet been polished (I ran out of daylight), but that will be shined up before you come get the car.

The straight 6 engine runs without smoking or overheating. The 3 speed manual transmission shifts smooth without binding or grinding. The coolant is green, and the oil stays in the engine (no leaking). a tuneup and oil change should be attended to, but not much beyond that, in addition to a fresh 6-volt battery-you should be good to go!

Sounds too good to be true for a 61 year old stock vehicle? You're right! The gas tank needs to be dropped and cleaned (less than $200 for cleaning, patching any holes, and sealing the inside), the carb needs new gaskets (and / orseals-figure $100 for the kit), and the fuel lines need to be blown out (or replaced at your discretion-replacement should be less than $30). As it sits right now I have driven the car (within the last month). I would recommend going through all the systems before going on a road trip in it, but I tell you, this car rides like a Cadillac! The brakes stop the car without chatter or shudder, and the shocks and springs are in good shape as well. I bypassed the fuel tank and lines by placing a new 5 gal fuel can in the passenger seat with a 6' length of fuel line to the fuel pump so the carb could get fresh fuel for the short drive from the storage facility to home. If you live locally to me, you can use this trick to get her home and save on the tow cost. Otherwise I would recommend a flatbed tow, or rent a car trailer to take your prize home at the end of the auction.

If you're looking for a late 40's car, this is a fine specimen. It's unmolested, has very solid metal all around, and needs little to make it go. There is one minimal existing repair on the passenger door flare, but that's all I can see as far as any bondo goes, this car is all metal. I'd love to keep this car and make an awesome hotrod, but I already havetoo many projects that need attention, and this one needs a new home. You will be getting a VERY solid base to start from, not someone elses box of bolts! Not a rolling chassis! Not a bondo bucket flintstone machine! Look around at the other 1947s for sale here, the price for this running, driving car is far more affordable, plus you can say you built the car yourself! Take her home and cruise her as is (with the repairs mentioned above), restore it to factory beauty, or drop in a big block and get yourself in a magazine! The only thing I can see that doesn't work is the clock in the glovebox door (but that should be rebuildable! Yes, the stock AM radio works! The chrome on the bumpers needs to be redone, but the metal underneath is in great shape.

Bid today to get your hands on a VERY rare car, sure to turn heads wherever you go! It even has all 4 stock hubcaps and trimrings on the whitewall wheels! The stainless trim inside and out is in great shape, and polishes easily to an awesome shine! If this car doesn't sell, I just may keep her for myself, but would rather see her go to someone that will get her finished and on the road sooner than I'll be able to get to it.....I have kept the price low so that an average joe could afford to get this car and build his rod. Look around on ebay, you won't find a car in this good ofcondition for this low of a price, so don't just look, bid! The car is located in racine, Wisconsin (southeast corner of the state), near State HWY 94, if you ar looking up shipping costs. My Zip here is 53402.

Please feel free to ask any questions, thanks for stopping by, and good luck bidding!
