"Enjoyed our conversation this morning. Your ad doesn't begin to describe the rarity of the car pictures. I'd describe your Ebay car as a "1948 Packard Custom 8 convertible victoria". This is confirmed by the first part of the VN, 2259. The 2nd part of the VN, 2919 indicates it is the 919th of 1103 manufactured for 1948. Aside from limousines I believe this was the most expensive factory-bodied car sold in America in 1948. Aside from the 1953-56 Caribbean convertibles, the most desirable postwar Packard convertible. The Custom 8 series is differentiated from the much more common Super 8 by many features, but the most identifiable from the exterior is the grille of stainless steel in the "egg crate" design with a similar grille on the rear. The more common Super 8 lacked both these features. Also the wheelbase is 127 inches compared to only 120 for the Super 8. The engine is a 9-main bearing 356 cubic inches of 160 hp compared to 327 cubic inches and 145 hp with only 5 main bearings for the Super 8. The 356 engine and chassis are carryovers from the full bona fide Classic Packards of prewar. The Custom 8 series, from 1948 to 1950, is VERY much rarer than the Super 8, and were far more costly. In addition to the different mechanics, the interiors were very much more elegant. In 40+ years of being around Packards, I've only seen a handful of Custom 8 convertibles, but dozens and dozens of the Super 8s. The national Packard Club directory shows only about 2 dozen of these cars in existence. DC 40+ years in the Packard hobby"

We try very hard to describe every car honestly and correctly. We openly encourage every potential bidder or buyer to have the car of your choice inspected prior to winning an auction or to using the buy it now feature.

We are located just 10 minutes from the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport and would be happy to pick you up whenever possible.

If you have a private plane, we are only 1 minute from the Executive Jet Port in Ft. Lauderdale....we keep our plane there. We will pick you up in our Golf cart. We're that close!

Any new car or truck we offer, is covered by the remainder of any existing factory warranty. There is no charge from any manufacturer to continue the warranty when a vehicle is sold to another party when the warranty has not expired.

There are no warranties on any Vintage cars or cars when the manufacturer's warranty has expired.

If 10 different people look at a vintage car you can bet you'll get 10 different descriptions. I have purchased many, many cars over the Internet and off of EBay and for the most part have been pleased. Probably because of the fact I am a true car collector and realize there is no such thing as PERFECT!

If you buy a car from Cars Of Yesterday and are not happy with something, please call us and let us know. If we feel it's our fault, we are only too happy to make an adjustment on the price...even though the vehicle has already been paid for.
