The last of the old guard, this '71 GTX is from the final year it stood alone as its own model. Compression ratios were still up, emissions equipment was sparse and the new look bodies were like spaceships compared to the cars built just the year before! Rare to find in fully restored condition and rarer still with two tags' worth of options this bright blue bomber is the perfect way to celebrate the end of the X!

Hood pins, rear window louvers, A/C, performance hood treatment, buckets and console—this is a HOT GTX!

Start underneath. Beautiful GB5 paint (that's a new shade for 1971 and not to be confused for the earlier color) covers the floors and frame rails. The fuel tank and lines, parking brake cables and more were correctly installed before the wheelwell undercoating was applied in assembly line correct fashion. Components front and rear were properly detailed and marked. The steering, suspension and brakes work exactly as they should. A new TTI exhaust system is in place from the manifolds to the cool chrome tips. The 8 ¾ rear out back is rebuilt, detailed and features a 3.23 Sure Grip center section. There are some miles on the car since its completion so you can be confident it's ready for whatever road you throw at it!

Inside, you're in for a comfortable ride. New Legendary bucket seats and door panels merge with restored original pieces. New carpet is on the floor, a new headliner is above and there's a clean dash pad up front. The center console is in excellent shape as are the gauges. This car was built to personal tastes rather than for the fender tag sticklers so you're going to see a lot of cool options that wandered onto this car after it left St. Louis. There's a tach in the cluster and an AM/FM radio in the dash. Clean seat belts, an excellent steering wheel and excellent dash trim complete a very nicely done cabin!

Pop the hood and check out the 440 mill inside. A '70 vintage piece it's been completely gone through functionally and cosmetically. Correct parts run from one side to another with the right battery and cables, date coded spark plug wires, an original date coded voltage regulator, proper heater and radiator hoses and more. A 959 radiator is up front next to the reproduction washer fluid bottle and new receiver drier. The rebuilt compressor, lines and condenser are there to keep you cool—this A/C blows ice cold!

Open the trunk and look around. The paint in here is easily as nice as the topside, and there's a proper jack, trunk mat and a brand new Polyglas tire on a new rim.
Outside the car's a stunner. Brilliant blue paint is accentuated by Plymouth's best options. The factory (and very rare) rear window louvers look awesome in body color and join high profile options like the hood pins and performance hood (and fender!) treatment. A super rare elastomeric front bumper and matching painted rear unify the color scheme while the Go-Wing and 15" rallye wheels with G60x15 tires increase the sport factor.

The GTX model was rolled into an option package on the Road Runner and the car lost its specific identity in 1972. With killer looks, a fender tag and a half, and attitude to spare, this X is everything you'd want in a dual purpose show car and grand tourer!

Convinced that collector car values are plummeting? Don't be fooled! While the value of mediocre cars has been steadily sliding with the economy over the past two years, the value of incredible cars has stayed level and, is rising. In times of economic uncertainty, capital flows to the highest quality assets which contain the least amount of risk and the classic car market is no exception. The lesson is simple: buy the very best you can find!

Please note that all sales are binding and final. Our cars are sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Please carefully read the terms & conditions of the sale before bidding. Winning this auction does not entitle you to come inspect the car and decide if you want to buy it, but obligates you to complete the purchase! A $1000.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of the auction close ... NO EXCEPTIONS.

We do not release our reserve prices, as this would be unfair to the other bidders, so please don't ask!

Note that our cars are on display in our showroom in Mentor, Ohio, in national print advertisements, listed for sale on our website, and listed for sale in multiple, nationally known, online dealer showrooms at all times. Since our cars are for sale in a number of other mediums, we reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time.

Best of Show Automotive sells approximately 40 cars each and every month to collectors worldwide. Each and every one of these cars is listed on Ebay, but only one sale, on average per month, actually occurs on Ebay. Accordingly, if you see a car you like, don't wait! Call us! When you see it disappear, it means that it sold to someone who saw it somewhere else. Lastly, note that we do not change our pricing on any car based on Ebay auction activity. Ebay is a wholesale marketing platform, which we use primarily for marketing purposes.

If you have ZERO feedback on Ebay, please call or email us to request our authority to bid on our vehicles. And, for you con-men and women out there, while you may think it's cute to create a user account and click the Buy It Now on a high dollar car you can't afford, note that we will track you down and we will recoup our costs for fraudulent bidding activity.
