Vehicle Description Itching for a first year GTX convertible? How about a one-of-one dark turquoise scratcher, complete with a pearl white interior and top, that’s a super clean Colorado body wearing a fresh restoration? How about some Chrysler Historical Society paperwork to back up the original fender tag, and a pile of receipts from the fresh restoration? Squirm all you want—you’re gonna want this car! There’s a new exhaust system with reproduction tips and Magnaflow mufflers, a fully rebuilt front end, a new gas tank and a fully rebuilt, shift kit enhanced transmission accenting the original undercoating. There’s nothing groundbreaking about the work down here, but there certainly aren’t any disappointments! A quick dip in the trunk shows a clean floor covered by a new mat and kept company by the correct spare and the correct jack and hook as well as a new jack instruction decal. The paint’s just as nice under here as it is on top, too! Let’s finish our mechanical tour with a good look at the highly detailed engine compartment. You’ll first notice the cosmetics—they’re top notch! The engine compartment itself is painted to the same standard as the exterior body. There’s a new hood insulation pad up top, a new radiator decal on the core support and even a “PAINT OK” ink stamp on the inner fender! You’ll notice the car’s power steering and brakes that make for easy cruising, as does the fat power curve from the rebuilt 440 Super Commando. This one’s capped by its correct dual snorkel air cleaner and Carter AFB carb, and it’s decked out in the proper shade of turquoise. Detailed HP manifolds straddle the motor while the correct 936 radiator sheds heat. Mopar’s electronic ignition system with an orange box ECU is a great upgrade from the notoriously finicky stock dual point unit. A new washer bottle, a detailed wiper motor, new wiring, new spark plug wires and looms, new belts and hoses (with proper clamps) and more all add up to a ton of time well spent under here! Have a seat on new legendary upholstery covering new seat foams. This is a nice office! New armrests and bases, new door panels, new visors and new floor mats on top of a new carpet accent the nicely refinished dash and center console. The lights all work, the gauges are nice, bright and clear, and all of the switchgear works as designed, including the power top. A really nice steering wheel takes your directional changes while new pedals below control the fore and aft movements, all while you look out the new windshield. Did you notice the white-over-black scheme in here? It’s really rare—in fact, Galen says this is the ONLY LL1 dark turquoise car with this interior! How’s that for not running into you at a show??? Time to look over the body and its LONG list of new and expertly redone parts! First, the paint’s shine must be seen to believe, especially contrasted with the white interior and top! Look over the mint grille and rechromed bumper up front, the carefully polished stainless trim around the windshield, the new emblems, door handles, mirrors, wheel lip moldings and taillight bezels, new fuel cap, the redone finish panel and rear bumper…wow! You’ll also notice the super nice 215/70/15 Coker radial redline tires mounted on 15x7” chrome road wheels—they really make the car! With only 680 GTX convertibles assembled in 1967 this was a rare car new, let alone 41 years later! With its extensive restoration completed in 2006 and its one-of-one status this is a blue chip collectible convertible. Put down the pointed sticks, give your fingernails a rest and put the calamine lotion back in the medicine cabinet—you’re gonna need this car to soothe that itch!
