Relisted: This listing has produced a lot of"watchers", tons off line inquiries, and 6 offers after closing. Lots of interest, but no sale yet. Open to reasonable offers, trade possibilities, or whatever. If you are seriously interested, and price scares you, make your offer or email to discuss it. Never hurts to try. We have other Factory 4 speed cars in various stages of restoration which are taking our time, energy, and monetary resources, so this one has to go.

Nostalgia, Nostalgia, And a trip down Memory Lane.

1965 Pontiac Catalina 2 DR HT Factory 4 speed. Car was special ordered in Redlands, California to be used as a drag racing car. Car was ordered as follows: Color - Iris mist (under terrible splatter paint on it now); Interior - Bench, black (mixed bag colors now); Push Button AM Radio and Manual antenna (push button AM there now); Dual Speed Washers (there now); Outside remote mirror (there now); Back up lamps; Verbraphonic (gone); utility lamp in trunk (there now); Courtesy lamps; Ash tray and lighter lamp; PS, PB, Cluster guage (there now); Soft Ray glass all around (windshield broken - all other good); Seat belts with custom retractors (retractors gone); Floor mats (gone); Transistor Ignition System (gone); Safe-T-Trac Rear Axle (either broken or gone - does not appear to work); Super HD Cooling with Desert Radiator and Shroud (remarkably, it is still there); HD Frame; HD Frame reinforcement cross member; HD Fan; 4 speed Syncromesh transmission, fully synchronized (still there). Special Order (only 919 built) 389 290 HP 10.5 motor with 10.5 compression.

Car now has a YF block 65 or 66 motor with 77 heads, carter AFB. Motor turns over easily with the starter, but the wiring is so screwed up we have not had it running yet. Fenders have 421 emblems, but this was not an original 421 car, nor was the block an original 421 block. The 389 block may now be 421 ci, but we have no way of knowing. Mileage is what is showing on the odometer, but we would guess it has turned over at least once. We have disassembled nothing on this car.

Now for the FUN STUFF (see pics) - all old school racing tricks of the 60;s. I saw many of these at Lyons over the years. On the passenger side inner fender is mounted an "California Poor Mans Blower (see pics) which was switched on the dash, and blew air directly into the air cleaner. Under the car, you will find chains set up to keep the driveline from dropping down and hitting the pavement when it broke or came loose andstarted flayling around. In the trunk, you will find chains used to hold down weight to change car class. Old style oil pressure guage on the column along with an ancient tach, and a vac guage. Also in the dash to the middle right is a pull cable for who knows what. Under the dash are a myrid of toggle switches, etc which are no longer operative and missing wiring. The rear wheels (though rusty) appear to be widened at one time. Tires are all junk, but do hold air.

The paint: Somebody was really mentally disturbed and painted this car a long time ago in a trunk splatter type paint - the whole durn thing. Notice the front facing Indian decals (or what is left of them, mostly impressions in the paint) on each side of the car on the rear roof pillar. I remember seeing these on 60's Pontiacs at Lyons when I was home from college, but can't remember this car (how can one forget purple or even this paint) nor whose cars they were on.

Most of the chrome and stainless are there and in reasonable shape for the age. There is one dent in q lower rocker. The pictures will show cancer a few places in the rockers, but they are notearthshattering repairs. The trunk is a normal trunk for this vintage, JUNK and rusted badly. The interior is made up of mismatched colors for front and rear.

We have the original owners manual, the protect o plate, PHS records, etc for the car. The ignition key looks like an original and we found an additional set of keys taped under the car.

The car is not currently licensed, has the original CA Black Plates on it when originally sold, and has a clear Oregon title. Delivery can be discussed.

We really do not have any more information on it. Please email us at gardnerteam@hotmail.com for addition pictures of specific areas you wish to see.

This is a VERY RARE CAR, and properly finished (not nearly as bad as my 63 Factory 4 speed Tri Power Bonne was nor my 66 GP Factory 421HO, Factory 4 speed, Factory AIR IS) will be a very nostalgic, rare, Factory 4 speed car.

We are taking a car to the Classic Auctions in Scottsdale in midJanuary from Oregon , and could deliver this car along the way at the same time. Inquire about cheap delivery.
