1961 PONTIAC CATALINA CONVERTIBLE

Up for auction is a very clean and restorable 61 Pontiac Catalina convertible. This vehicle is part of a trust that is being sold off. The vehicle has been stored inside a heated enclosed building most of its life. It has not been driven much but there has been regular maintenance and frequent starting of the vehicle. The owner has had a man in charge of all his collector vehicles keeping them clean and driving them a few miles every other week.

Vehicle condition:

All the seats, interior etc are all in good condition. Carpet and dash as well as door panels are all in good condition. There is a small tear on the drivers side rear arm rest just below the ash tray. The chrome overall is good but does have some very small bubbles starting to appear on the lower portion of the chrome bumpers and the mirrors. The chrome around the bezel's on the tail lights is also discolored. The plastic housing are all in good condition. Tail light bezels have some chrome missing as well. The car was rust proofed when new and show's no signs of any rust problems either under the car or on the body. Since the vehicle was stored inside a heated building it has not been exposed to the salt on the roads nor the salt in the air. There is some signs of rust stain on the trunk lid underside but nothing bubbling or thru the paint. The convertible top is in Great condition. The beading above the doors has some cracking but the top overall is good. No rips or tears or wear shown. The rear window has some scratch's but can be seen thru just fine. The motor works fine and the car does have a boot for the convertible top.

Mechanic Inspection:

The mechanical inspection found the following problems with the vehicle.

• Belts should be replaced. (cracked and old)
• Leaking shown around fuel pump and cooling lines of the transmission
• Oil around valve covers showing potential signs of modest leaking
• All original tune up parts
• All cooling hoses are original and should be replaced
• Fuel filter is original
• Oil leak at rear main seal and front of oil pan. (gaskets have shrunk from age)
• Needs 4 wheel brake job
• Needs 4 new wheel cyl. new brake drums on rear and flex brake lines on the front
• Needs new shocks
• Needs new V Belts
• Accelerator pump in carb not working properly. (Most likely gummed up from age)
• Noice in speedometer head and needle jumps. (Lubricate the speedometer cable)

Overall condition:

Overall the car is in very restorable condition. The body is almost immaculate condition. Short of a little cleaning and general maintenance this vehicle could be a real show piece. This vehicle is being sold "AS IS AND WHERE IS" with no warranty implied nor expressed. If you would like to see the vehicle, please contact me by phone to make arrangements to view or test drive the vehicle. If you would like any other inspections performed, please let us know with at least 7 days advance notice so we can arrange the inspection. Any other inspections must be paid for in full prior to the inspection being performed.

Shipping:

All shipping must be paid for by the winning bidder. If you would like to have an enclosed trailer for shipping, please let me know at auction end so the appropriate charges can be calculated. If you would prefer to arrange shipping yourself let me know that as well. I will take pictures prior to pick up and forward them to assure the vehicle has left in the same condition as advertised.

Payment:

A non refundable deposit of $500. must be submitted to paypal with in 3 days of auction end. The balance must be paid by cash or certified check at time of pick up. If paying by certified check, please submit payment with adequate time to verify funds before release of vehicle.
