Selling my 1968 Firebird 400 that I have owned for the past 5+ years, I am the 4th owner, 76,989 original miles, solid southern car. Has its original quarters, trunk and interior floors, frame rails, wheelhouses, fenders, hood, doors, etc. Front valance panel is GM NOS. Originally sold new at Taber Pontiac in Atlanta, Georgia and still has the metal dealer emblem on tail panel. Q code paint Verdoro Green is a good 20 footer paint job about 4 years old, some imperfections in paint such as chips and light scratches, crack in paint near rear rear tail light. Outer rear quarter panels have some small meat patches around the outer wheel well area, seat upolstery is original so there are a few seam splits, sill nice for being 40 years old. New carpet, headliner and package tray.

Engine runs excellent and was professionlly rebuilt about 2,000 miles ago. Data plate build date is 03D, 4th week of March 1968. Engine is the original YT 400 with VIN number stamped in lower block, block date code is C158, #16 heads C048, 9790140 intake C088, alternator 1100704 37 amp 8C6, the Q-Jet is not the original one but is 7028271 (68 Firebird 400HO 4spd), carb is fully rebuilt and restored. The original Turbo 400 transmission is included with sale of car but I have converted it to a 4speed, 1968 Muncie M20 that is a fresh rebuild, New clutch, pressure plate, resurfaced flywheel, etc. Shifter is a correct 68 round bar Hurst Shifter rebuilt by Pete Serio at Precision Pontiac, correct 68 only reverse switch & bracket & wiring, and the reverse lights do work. Rear axle is still the original 3.08 open. The wheels are unrestored 1970 14x7 Rally II, new 0 mile BFG Radial T/A tires 235/60/14, new trim rings, caps & lug nuts. The Turbo 400 has the VIN number staped in it and also includes the torque converter, flexplate, crossmember and driveshaft with yoke. Also new radiator, hoses, date coded spark plug wires, starter, chrome valve covers. Air cleaner is a repro of the 1967 GTO HO air claener, Front air dam is solid with original black paint. All 4 headlights are original T-3s.

PHS says Firebird 400, Turbo 400, Black Deluxe Interior, am radio, front antenna, custom seat belts, Rally IIs, console with clock, dual exhaust, windshield soft ray glass, F70x14 Redlines & HD dual stage air cleaner.

Factory options I added include the Rally Guage Cluster (I transferred the original odometer to it), wood steering wheel, AM/FM it works, 8-Track Player with Multiplex (both not working) with correct underdash bracket & lower kick panel speakers, tinted glass (all 5 pieces from same parts car), fold down rear seat, repro hood tachometer that works, rear quarter panel radio antenna (correct froma 68 parts car), NOS screw on door edge guards, dual mirrored sunvisors, and a 67 Firebird repro round remote side mirror.

Exhaust is repro Ram Air manifolds, Gardner pipes (1 transverse muffler & dual resonators), repro chrome exhaust extensions. Aftermarket front disc brake setup (the original front drums are included if buyer wants them), new master cylinder & booster, new rear brakes, new front to rear brake & fuel lines, new gas tank, fully rebuilt front & rear suspensions with new springs, shocks, & all bushings, all new wiring harness' from M&H Wiring (dash, engine, headlight & tail light harness'), all 4 GM NOS wheel well moldings, NOS front fender bird emblems. Rechromed front & rear bumpers, Hurst Shifter, door handles, & rear quarter gills, professionlly polished front & rear window moldings, my chrome chrome & polish bill was $2000. The car sits a little high in the rear due to the new springs, I can also sell the car without the Rallys & BFG tires if buyer wants to buy his own wheels, I have a set of roller wheels/tires that I can put on in that case.

This car is nice but not perfect, I have described the car the best I know and would be a nice driver for someone, it will need a front end alignment as I have not driven the car since the suspension was done and the hood needs better adjustment at the hinges. Could use some touch up paint on the suspension and body paint.

Car is registered to me and I have a transferable registration for the new owner, titles were not issued in NY until 1972.

Car is sold as is, no warranty of any kind, and I would like a $2000 non-refundable deposit within 3 days after the auction ends with balance due upon pickup.

Pickup and shipping are the buyers responsibility. Located in Poughkeepsie, NY about an hour north of New York City.
