1968 Firebird 400 convertible with hood tach and rally gauges. My wife says I’m terrible at selling things. I tend to point out the negatives instead of the good things. I have no more time, money and mostly energy to finish it, but its so close!!! I’m a perfectionist who can’t get it right the first time. So I take it apart and put it back together until I get it right. Its been 3 years now and counting… This car is a frame off restoration that has not been completed. The car does run and drive, all lights and gauges work, but I have yet to finish installing some parts. It has never been driven in rain or snow, and is always garaged. My kids know to avoid a 20 ft area around it, if there’s a fire and they need to go through the garage to save there lives. New… Almost everything… Front disc brakes, Carpet, Windows, yes, ALL OF THEM, Clutch, Alternator, Water pump, Tires are not new, but they look close to new, Many emblems, Ignition switch, Headlight switch, Door locks, Trunk lock, Antenna, Hooker headers, Universal joints, Upper ball joints, Lower ball joints, Whole front suspension rebuilt, Coil springs leaf springs, Front sway bar and rubber, Front bumper, Rear bumper, Flowmaster mufflers, Gas tank, Fuel sending unit, Radiator, Shocks all around.... To be installed… Glove box and door, Carpet, Firewall insulation (goes around heater box all the way to the steering column), Front shakers, Fender supports (fender to radiator), Console is not bolted down, Seat belts, Front sway bar, Chrome around rear of convertible top, Chrome around front windshield, FlowMaster mufflers (temp cherry bombs installed), Console is not bolted down, windshield wipers and mechanical linkage...I’m sure there’s more… Other things Windows need to be adjusted to the top frame The seats need to be re-covered, see pics There are no rear shakers Doors fit until I installed weather stripping around doors Small nick in paint on passenger door (door to fender) where I was installing the door (see pictures). Engine… Engine was rebuilt, has875 miles on it. It has a slightly bigger than stock cam in it, but other than that and hooker headers, is all stock. It’s a 1968 numbers matching 400 engine. It was bored out (something). It starts immediately and idles smooth and runs like a dream! No burnouts on this classic, I don’t believe in trashing a good classic. But it could easily do it. The odometer was rebuilt and reset to 00000 as the engine was installed. It its around875 miles now. During the winters, I always started it once a week on Saturdays, and there's a battery trickle charger attached. The front sway bar currently installed is a heavy duty bar, didn’t seem to fit, so I’m planning on removing it and re-installing the original smaller one. I believe I’d have to remove a spring to do this. Since E-bay couldn’t save this listing, for whatever reason, I’ve had to write this twice, oops, three times now. There may some things I’ve left out. But, this is a beautiful car that just needs someone with a few hoursand notmuch$$$$ to finish to a show quality Firebird. My reserve is lower than two other 68 Firebird convertible's selling on E-bay I spotted this week. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit instantly through Pay-Pal when auction ends. Car does not leave until the money is in the bank. No I won't give out my bank info for you to "deposit" money in my bank, or steal it... Cash or wait till check clears. Any serious questions, call 414-630-5305 and leave a message. NO TRADES! As usual, I'll post all questions and answers about this auction for all to see. I may add a video of the car running later and post on you-tube. On Aug-24-08 at 15:30:48 PDT, seller added the following information:
