1970 Pontiac GTO Judge

NO RESERVE! BID TO WIN!

Up for auction today is one of the finest, most rare Pontiacs ever to be offered to the public. This is a real 1970 GTO Judge. Not only does it feature one of the most beautiful restorations you will ever see, but this car is also very rare and unique because of the options it was built with. Also, the story behind this car is a real treat........so sit down and let me tell you how this car became what it is today!

This particular GTO Judge was built at the GM automobile plant located in Oshawa, Canada on January 19, 1970. It was built for export to be sold in the USA. It was delivered to Star Garage Pontiac dealership located in Bradford, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1970. This particular Judge was built with some very rare and interesting options........of course, it was built with the WT1 "Judge" option which included the Ram Air III engine and handling package.......but it also includes an M20 4 speed transmission, a bench seat, a Formula steering wheel, an electric rear defrost window, an 8 track player........and the most interesting option was the WT7 "Black Wing" option. The WT7 option included a black wing on the trunk lid and black/yellow/red stripes on the sides. This option was only availible on white Judges. It is widely known that there were only 51 WT7 Judges built in Arlington, Texas in 1970.....but this car was built in Oshawa........and it has all the paperwork from GM Canada to document and verify this option. This could make this particular Judge the only one documented to exist. Needless to say.....this is a very special GTO.

Here is the story on this car:

This GTO Judge was purchased brand new in late January of 1970 by a young college student. It was then sold in 1973 to it's second owner in Port Allegany, PA. He drove the car until 1978 and parked it in a barn with 58000 miles showing on the odometer. The Judge sat in that barn until November of 2007! The barn that it sat in was located only a couple miles from my restoration shop and I discovered it when the second owner decided to sell it. While we were restoring this car we were taking out the back seat and found a beautiful golden high school class ring from 1970. The class ring was from Eldred, PA, which is the next small town over from my town. We called the high school and they figured out who the ring belonged to by the initials engraved on it, and it turned out that the owner of the ring was the orginal owner of the Judge! He bought the car during his first year of college at Penn State university and is now a professor there!

I am the third owner and I personally ressurected this car back into the perfect, gleaming machine that it deserves to be.....and now I am offering it to the public because I don't have the time to take it to all the national shows and museums that it needs to attend. This is one of the finest Judges in the world and it deserves to be shared with the world.

This car was completely restored from the ground up by Jason Daugherty at Transformation Restorations in Port Allegany, PA. We started with a 58000 mile Judge that had been parked for 30 years. The car was completely unmolested and was totally original right down to the brake calipers. Every single part on this car is correct, original and date coded. Every singe number is correct and matching. It has the original engine block, heads, carb, intake, exhaust manifolds, alternator, distributor, etc etc etc. Even all five Rally II wheels are original and properly date coded. When we disassembled this car we carefully cleaned everything and took note of all factory paint inspection marks and finishes and replicated everything perfectly as we built the car from th ground up. It features all the correct markings, labels, and even the correct paint overspray patterns. This car is restored to a councours level and would be considered to be in #1 condition.

The drivetrain is the Ram Air III engine mated to a M20 Muncie 4 speed transmission with a factory Hurst shifter. This is fed through a BOP 10 bolt rear axle featuring 3:55 gears and Positraction. The entire engine was disassembled, checked and reassembled using the original pistons, camshaft, and lifters. The inside of the engine showed no wear whatsoever and looked like it did the day it was built.......so in the interest of originality we kept it all original. It runs great and feels like it has all 366 horsepower the factory rated it at. The transmission was rebuilt, along with the carburator, alternator, steering pump, and rear axle. There are no leaks from anything on this Judge. The original exhaust was replaced with a stainless steel exhaust from Pypes. It will never rust and will last virtually forever and it sounds great.

The frame and suspension were completely disassembled, and correctly restored from the ground up. Every single bolt, bushing and clip was either restored or replaced. All fluid lines were replaced. The gas tank and sending unit are new. The original GM DelcoCanada spiral shocks were restored and re-used. They feature the correct part numbers and date codes. The wheels are the original "JT" coded rims with a December 1969 date code on all of them. The tires are new reproduction Firestone Wide Ovals.....which are correct for this car. The underside of this car is absolutely stunning. The entire chassis assembly is virtually perfect.

The body on this Judge was in good shape since it only had 58000 miles on it. There was some rust around the rear wheel lips that was cut out and replaced with new metal and the front fenders were replaced with new ones. Other than that there was very little to do on the body of the car. It was placed on a rotisserie and every nook and cranny was cleaned, prepped and restored back to new condition. The bottom features the correct overspray pattern. The top side features Polar White paint done in DuPont Chromasystem acrylic urethane. The paint can be described as flawless. There is not a single scratch or dent on this car. It was sanded, buffed and polished to a mirror shine from top to bottom. All of the stainless trim was polished. Everything fits well and looks beautiful. The reflective "Judge" decals look great next to the bright white paint. The car just glows when it's outside in the sun.

The interior was the best part of this Judge. All those years of sitting in the barn had preserved it very nicely. The only part of the interior we changed was the carpeting and the pedal pads. All of the seat covers, the door panels, and the dash are original and unrestored. Everything works perfectly, including all the gauges and the clock....... even the original 8 track player plays very nicely. The neat thing about the interior of this car is that it features a bench seat with a 4 speed transmission. That was always a rare combination in a GTO.....especially in a Judge.

All in all what we have here is a very rare and unique example of one of the most famous and coveted musclecars in the world. GTO Judges are a special car in the first place.......but this one breaks alot of the commonly accepted theories in the Pontiac community. The fact that this is a Canadian-built Judge with the documented WT7 option makes this car one that you will probably never see again. This car is fresh and has never been shown to the public. This car will be able to compete at and win shows on a national level anywhere in the country. Now is your chance to own a car that is a very important part of Pontiac history.
